KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – The Malaysian motorsports community is buzzing with excitement as homegrown talent, Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli, gears up for his highly anticipated Moto3 wildcard debut at the 2025 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (GP Malaysia). The 18-year-old racing sensation will take to the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) from October 24-26, 2025, marking a pivotal moment in his burgeoning career.
A Career Built on Speed and Grit
Hakim Danish's journey to the world stage has been a relentless climb, built upon successive victories in junior-level championships:
Historic Red Bull Rookies Finish: The Terengganu native recently cemented his status as Malaysia’s brightest prospect by securing a third-place overall finish in the highly competitive 2025 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. He is the first Malaysian rider to ever achieve a top-three standing in the series.
JuniorGP Contender: He currently competes in the FIM JuniorGP World Championship with the SIC Racing-MSi team, where he is consistently battling among the frontrunners, demonstrating his readiness for the Moto3 class.
Wildcard Entry: A National Endeavor
His upcoming Moto3 appearance, riding a factory-spec KTM machine for the AEON Credit SIC Racing MSI Team, is being treated as a major national motorsports event.
Government Support and Challenge: Youth and Sports Minister, Hannah Yeoh, has publicly thrown her support behind Hakim Danish, challenging the young rider to "rock the SIC" by aiming for a podium finish.
Corporate Backing: The debut has been significantly bolstered by a RM1 million donation from AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad, underscoring a strong collaboration between the government, the private sector, and the motorsports community to nurture local talent.
Mentor's Legacy: The rider's efforts will be watched closely by his mentor, Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin, who holds the record as the best Malaysian Moto3 finisher at the home GP, having secured second place in 2012.
Eyes on the Future
Despite the immense public pressure, Hakim Danish remains pragmatic and focused. While the Minister has challenged him to win, the rider is keeping his expectations in check for his first Grand Prix outing.
"I am not setting any target as I am still new in this category and have never raced it before," he stated, adding that he will measure his performance after completing the first day's Free Practice 1.
Beyond the wildcard, the young racer's future looks bright. His team is actively working to finalize a main sponsorship deal that is expected to secure him a full-time seat in the Moto3 World Championship starting in 2026.
Malaysian motorsports fans are urged to purchase tickets for the GP Malaysia from October 24-26 to witness Hakim Danish's highly anticipated world championship debut on home turf.
