KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Malaysian football esports is taking center stage. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), in partnership with FIFA and Konami, is bringing the FIFAe Continental Championship Asia 2026 to Kuala Lumpur from August 19 to 23, 2026. Servicing as the ultimate gateway for esports athletes across the continent, this high-stakes tournament marks a key milestone in FIFAe's newly structured qualification pathway toward the FIFAe World Cup 2026™.
The New "Road to Finals" Qualification Structure
Under the FIFAe competitive framework, national teams have progressed through months of preliminary testing including local Challenger Series events and the online FIFAe Nations League phase. The FIFAe Continental Championships serve as the regional crescendo. Kuala Lumpur hosts the top 8 qualified Asian national esports teams competing across two main categories: eFootball™ Console and eFootball™ Mobile. High-performing national teams in Kuala Lumpur will directly book their tickets to the pinnacle event: the grand FIFAe World Cup 2026™ Finals.
