The heavyweight Asian showdown opened with high intensity as both sides traded early blows. DPR Korea’s Kang Ryu Mi threatened in the 11th minute, while Japan’s Haruko Suzuki responded with a sharp effort just three minutes later. As the half progressed, DPR Korea began testing Japan's structure with repeated attempts from So Ryu Gyong, Ro Un Hyang, and Kang Ryu Mi.
