Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), in consultation with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), has officially rescheduled the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™.

Originally slated to take place from January 7 to February 5, 2027, the 24-nation continental championship has been pushed back nearly a full year. The revised schedule will see the tournament kick off on December 23, 2027, culminating in the grand final on January 21, 2028.

The governing body cited "exceptional circumstances" across the region, notably ongoing security developments in the Middle East, along with substantial logistical and air-travel disruptions impacting host cities including Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar. The revised calendar has been submitted to FIFA to align global international match windows.

The nearly 11-month delay ensures player and spectator safety while giving organizers the operational window required to deliver Asia’s crown jewel in Saudi Arabia without compromise.
